(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This beautiful early example of the magnificent Zejwa carpet design aptly captures the enigmatic power of Caucasian rugs. The two glorious cerulean Sunburst medallions, effectively trimmed in scarlet, are supported by numerous Caucasian symbols including two different variations of the dragon signifying beneficence: the horizontal diamonds and the smaller latch hooked ones. The border of this eminent tribal piece attests both to the exploratory nature of the weaver and its considerable age. Its ivory based main border revealing the Karabagh-associated crab design places it among only a handful of Zejwas with this anomaly. The use of the inner ‘Kochak” border with its particularly freeform, reciprocal ram’s horns pattern belongs to an earlier Caucasian drawing style. Extremely good condition proves the rug has always been well-loved. Learn About This Rug Type
