Repeated throughout the hexagonal carnelian field, the symbol captures a sprouting seed pod within which a fully realized flower is resting, evoking agrarian as well as human implications. This motif filling both the field and the spandrels is a very rare, early pattern and it is rendered here with extraordinary sensitivity, refinement, and spontaneity.
