Woven in the village of Chondzoresk in the Karabagh region of the Caucasus, this deeply alluring, extremely rare piece offers a ticket to a former time and life experience. Woven on the high slopes of the Caucasus Mountains, it uses ancient cloud band designs drawn in oversize proportions to capture the powerful natural forces that acted on the region daily. Clouds were looked upon as harbingers of good fortune that sustained all life beneath them, here symbolized by horned antelope that appear across the field. A stunning progression of abrash from teal green through aquamarine blue from the top to the bottom of the two medallions is another brilliantly done artistic stroke. Learn About This Rug Type
