(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This iconic 19th century Perpedil rug offers a stunning red and gold chromatic duet that effectively re-invents the traditional patterning. The multi-scale, entrancing allover Perpedil design based on the ram’s horn symbol is faithfully rendered on top of gradients of sumptuous abrash striation. Minute blossoms, mythological griffin-like forms, starflowers, talismans, and "S" motifs (ancient Zoroastrian symbols of the sun's life-giving energy) are scattered throughout the warmly radiant ginger background. The border suite that features Kufic motifs in the unusual ivory main border is drawn with admirably precision. Its luxuriant wool is in astonishing, nearly full pile condition making this piece poised for decades of potential floor use. Learn About This Rug Type
