Late 19th Century
(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") In an atypical extra small size, this rug from the finely woven tradition that flourished in lowland region of the Caucasus mountains in the 19th century comes this impressive, bejeweled 120-year old piece. Drawn with outstanding clarity and individual nuance, the classic ram’s horn motifs are particularly abundant, unfolding spaciously alongside abstracted bird forms and other paired, graphic adornments. Two of the earliest and most enduring border motifs—the stately Kufic and dynamic interlock—are also present, providing a remarkably harmonious frame. Astoundingly potent, entirely harmonious colors, including aquamarine, khaki, crimson and ivory perfectly express these vigorous, abstracted tribal motifs. Learn About This Rug Type
