("New Arrivals Gallery") Camelhair rugs from the northwest Azerbaijani region of Persia are beloved for their individuality and versatility, exemplified by this extraordinarily inventive small rug. A central axis showcases in four rectangles a completely original multi-faceted hexagonal motif that is whimsically re-invented throughout the design. Continuing the ingenuity, the axis seems to almost attach to the borders with its trumpet-shaped, elemental ends, artistically achieving a magical overall balance. It is framed by two main borders. One, a highly personal interpretation of the 'leaf and calyx' pattern on ivory, while the other features the same hexagonal motif from the center in constant re-iteration floating atop skillfully striated ruddy brown hues.
