Its notably dexterous, original presentation uses a plethora of botanical and celestial motifs with such skilled use of scale, placement and color that the rug appears serene, yet deeply engaging rather than busy or overly ornamented. Nineteenth century Qashqais in exceedingly good condition such as this are quite seldom encountered on today’s market. Even within this rarefied group, this rug's even medium pile along with its complete original selvedge edges and fringe ends are virtually unheard of in a Southern Persian tribal piece of this early vintage.
